The structure
This website has also learned that according to the new salary structure, the least paid soldier at the rank of Private will now earn shs1.5 million and this is expected to go upward depending on the rank.
It is said that the government realized the poor pay for UPDF soldiers with many earning below shs500,000 prompting a bumper package.
The new salary structure will see a Private earn shs1.5 million whereas the rest of the ranks between Private and Captain will also be paid within the bracket. Currently, a private earns less than Shs350,000 while a captain has been earning Shs670,000.

- Private – 310,000
- Lance Corporal – 311,000
- Corporal- 314,000
- Sergeant – 321,000
- Staff Sergeant – 341,000
- Warrant Officer I – 400,000
- Warrant Officer II – 450,000
- Second Lieutenant – 520,000
- Lieutenant – 600,000
- Captain – 670,000
- Major – 750,000
- Lt. Col – 950,000
- Colonel – 1,100,000
- Brigadier – 1,300,000
- Major General – 1,400,000
- Lieutenant General – 1,500,000
- General – 1,600,000
