Soroti University Admissions: General Entry Requirements For Soroti University of Science and Technology

PART I—BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMME
The minimum entry requirements for admission to a bachelor’s degree
programme are—
(a) For direct entry—
(i) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE); and
(ii) At least 2 principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
(b) For mature age entry—
(i) 25 years of age and above; and
(ii) Must have passed mature age entry examinations with 50%
mark and above.
PART II—ORDINARY DIPLOMA PROGRAMME
The minimum entry requirements for admission to an ordinary diploma
programme are—
(a) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes; and
(b) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
PART III—ORDINARY CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME
The minimum entry requirements for admission to an ordinary certificate
programme is a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 3 credits obtained at the same sitting.

PART IV—POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME
The minimum entry requirements for admission to a Postgraduate programme
are—
(a) for a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent; and
(b) For a doctoral degree, a master’s degree or its equivalent.

i.CANDIDATES WHO OBTAINED GRADES X, Y, Z, 7 AND 9 IN UCE / ‘O’LEVEL SHOULD NOT APPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ADMISSION.

ii.DIPLOMA HOLDER APPLICANTS WHO HOLD CLASS THREE (3) DIPLOMA CERTIFICATES OR PASS DIPLOMAS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ADMISSION AND THEREFORE SHOULD NOT APPLY, EXCEPT WHERE STATED IN THE DIPLOMA HOLDERS REQUIREMENTS.

2). HOW TO APPLY

A)Application is Online for All Applicants. In addition, Diploma/Degree Holders and International applicants will have to submit certified copies of their Transcripts and Certificates and a passport size Photograph to Soroti University contact office Room 608, Senate building Makerere University or Office of the Academic Registrar Soroti University Multi-Purpose Building Level Two Office 7. B)Other relevant information can be obtained from undergraduate admissions office, level 2 office 7, Multipurpose building, Soroti University or can be downloaded from our website www.sun.ac.ug with effect from Soroti University Reporting / Opening Date.

C)CODES TO GUIDE FOR APPLICATION FOR UGANDA GOVERNMENT SPONSORSHIP SCHEME AND PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP SCHEME

Under the government sponsorship scheme, Applicants should use the following codes:

D)PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEE

Non-Refundable Application Fee of UG Shs.50,000/= for Ugandans and East Africans. International Applicants $75 or UG. Shs.280,000/= Plus Bank Charge of UGx 2,750/= should be paid from any branch of the following Banks:

4). SOROTI UNIVERSITY ONLINE APPLICATION PORTAL USER GUIDE

i.Applicants should access the Institution’s Admissions URL http://admissions.sun.ac.ug or Soroti University website at www.sun.ac.ug/admissions

ii.Sign-up using full name, e-mail and Mobile No. Please note that your name must be similar to the one on your supporting academic documents for your application to be considered valid. If you

“Inspire, Innovate and Create” changed your names please go to Soroti University Multipurpose Building, Office 7 level 2 with an affidavit supporting the name change.

iii.A password will be sent to both your e-mail and mobile number.

iv.The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.

v.To fill a form, click on the APPLY NOW button displayed on the running scheme.

vi.Obtain a payment advice slip by clicking on “Pay for Form” button

vii.Make a payment at any of the above named Banks:

5)MOBILE MONEY PAYMENT STEPS:

i.Dial *272*6# on either MTN or Airtel

ii.Select option 3-Admission

iii.Select option 3-Pay Fees

iv.Enter reference number obtained from Application portal

v.Details of Application form will be confirmed

vi.Enter PIN to confirm payment
