The Academic Registrar Busitema University invites applications for admission to Doctoral, Master, and Undergraduate Degrees, Diplomas and Certificate Programmes for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a second-class degree/diploma or certificate from an NCHE accredited Programme Applicants with a pass degree must show evidence of academic and professional growth.

SPONSORSHIP

Government scholarship slots are available for undergraduate and Diploma programmes as indicated. All Graduate Programmes are privately sponsored. Please note that the fees payable to the University against the various programmes cover only tuition fees and EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research, stipend and other expenses.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission:

a) To the PhD programme for candidates with Masters,

b) To the Master’s degree programmes for candidates with Degrees,

c) To Undergraduate degree programmes for candidates with Diplomas /Degrees /Higher Education Access Certificates,

d) To Undergraduate degree and Certificates in Higher Education Access Programmes for A-level candidates,

e) To Diploma Programmes for candidates with Certificates / A-level results,

f) To the Certificate in General Agriculture course for candidates with at least O’ Level results and

g) To Skills-Based Practical Short-Course Certificate Programmes for candidates with at least Primary Leaving Education (PLE)

NOTE THAT for candidates with A-Level results, the eligibility for degrees and diplomas is as follows:

General Requirement Interested applicants should have: an Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five (5) passes. (Candidates who obtained results 7, 9, X, Y and Z at the ‘O’ level need not apply)

AND

(a) Degree Programmes

Should also have: Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least two (2) principal passes in prescribed subjects obtained at the same sitting. Only candidates who sat A’ Level in 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 & 2016 are eligible to apply EXCEPT for those who wish to apply for (BBA) Bachelor of Business Administration (Weekend) which is open for all years.

(b) Diploma Programmes:-

Should also have: Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least ONE (1) principal pass and TWO (2) subsidiaries in principal subjects obtained in the same year of sitting. Only candidates who sat A’ Level in 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 & 2016 are eligible to apply.

*All applicants of Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MED), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BNS) and Bachelor of Science in Anesthesia (BNA) will be required to sit the special entry examination scheduled for Saturday, 13th April 2024 starting at 7:30 am at the School of Clinical Officers, Mbale.

Period of Study for DEP and BEP:
Distance learning with face-to-face sessions is conducted in a semester-based system. during school vacations

Candidates who did not offer Agriculture or Biology at A-Level should have passed it with at least a Credit at O-Level to be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Agricultural Mechanization and Irrigation Engineering (AMI).

Candidates who did not offer Chemistry at A-Level should have passed it with at least a Credit at O-Level to be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Polymer, Textile & Industrial Engineering (TEB) and Diploma in Ginning and Industrial Engineering (DGI)

REQUIREMENTS

 Applicants should have obtained at least a second-class degree/diploma or certificate from an NCHE accredited Programme. Applicants with a pass degree/diploma/certificate must show evidence of academic or professional growth.

 Candidates applying to Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MED), Nursing (BNS) and Anaesthesia (BNA) will be required to pay a non-refundable fee for the SPECIAL ENTRY EXAMINATION of UGX 150,000 for EA and UGX 225,000 for Non-EA.

 Candidates who wish to apply for government sponsorship will be required to download the citizenship form available at www.busitema.ac.ug, fill it and submit it together with the detailed physical printout of the online Government application form to any of the following centres: Busitema campus (25km from Tororo), Busitema University Liaison Office (Makerere University, Lincoln Flats, Room A2), Arapai Campus in Soroti, Namasagali

Campus in Kamuli, Nagongera Campus in Tororo, Pallisa Campus (at Kalaki) in Pallisa & Mbale Campus (Mbale Regional Referral Hospital). Attach certified copies of the transcript, certificate and diploma; birth certificate, and one (1) passport-size photo.

 Those applying for PhD programmes shall pay a non-refundable application fee of UGX 200,000 for EA or UGX 300,000 for Non-EA.

 The rest of the applicants shall pay a non-refundable application fee of UGX 50,000 for EA or UGX 75,000 for non-EA candidates.
NB: All Admitted Candidates will be responsible for verification of their Academic documents from the awarding institution.

The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.

To fill out a form the applicant clicks on the Apply Now button displayed on the running scheme.

Upload your academic documents (in a single file pdf format) by clicking the ATTACH FILES button.
(a) For Ugandan applicants, attach equated academic documents from the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) or National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and proof of English Proficiency where applicable.
(b) For PhD applicants, an additional softcopy (in pdf format) of the Research Concept Paper is required to be sent to the following email: dgsri.adm@busitema.ac.ug

NOTES: (1) You are advised against submitting false information or forged documentation.

Candidates who obtained results 7, 9, X, Y and Z at ‘O’ Level need not apply, since they do not meet the admission requirements.
