Kampala University (KU) Students’ Loan Scheme

ELIGIBILITY TO THE STUDENTS’ LOAN SCHEME

To be Eligible for the First Year Students’ Loan, one should;

  1. Be a Ugandan Citizen.
  2. Be Admitted to a Private Chartered University or Public University or a listed Other Tertiary Institution in Uganda. Accreditation is by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
  3. Applicant must be pursuing any of HESFB’s approved STEM Programmes or Programmes approved under affirmative Action.
  4. Demonstrate a financial need.
  5. Be joining in the First Year of study.
  6. MUST not be a beneficiary of any other Scholarship or Funding Opportunity

Eligibility for First Year Students’ Loan for the AY2021/22

To be Eligible for the Continuing Students’ Loan;

  1. Applicant must be Ugandan.
  2. Applicant must be in the Final year of study.
  3. Applicant must be pursuing any of HESFB’s approved STEM Programmes or Programmes approved under affirmative Action.
  4. Applicant must be studying from any of approved HEIs i.e. All Public Universities, all Chartered Private Universities, all Listed OTIs.
  5. Applicant must demonstrate a financial need.

Eligibility for the Continuing Students Loan for the AY2021/22

General Requirements for  Students’ Loan Application include;

  1. A copy of admission letter from any of the participating HEI.
  2. A copy of the National ID.
  3. Copies of academic certificates or result slips and transcripts.
  4. A copy of a birth certificate.
  5. A copy of a recent passport photo.
  6. Proof of payment of the prescribed loan processing fees.
  7. A copy of a Financial card (Not mandatory at the point of application).
  8. A sketch map of applicant’s current address/residence.
  9. A sketch map of applicant’s home of origin (if different from current address).
  10. A filled loan application form submitted online.

NOTE:

  1. The loan shall NOT cover meals, accommodation and other incidental costs.
  2. Seek for the loan ONLY IF YOU NEED IT.
  3. The student loans will only be awarded to students pursuing programs in year I (call them Freshers)
  4. Students who have received Government or other scholarships are not eligible for the loan scheme.
  5. You will be informed of the outcome of your application through the Print media, your respective email addresses, the HESFB website, and or via SMS on your private mobile telephone contacts.
